Dr Matle Fung

Biography

Dr Fung is a female Cardiology Staff Specialist at Campbelltown Hospital and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the Western Sydney University.  She graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2003, and completed her physician training at the Concord and Nepean Hospital network, before completing  her cardiology imaging fellowship at Liverpool Hospital.  She sub-specialises in Advanced Cardiac Imaging (Echocardiography and Cardiac CT), and is actively involved in clinical research and medical education and training.  She completed her PhD (UNSW) in 2018 with her research focuses on heart failure, hypertensive cardiomyopathy and valvular heart disease.  She has published in peer-reviewed national and international journals, and has presented at several cardiology scientific meetings.

Her interests include preventative cardiology, ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, as well as the management of cardiovascular disease in women.  She speaks English and Chinese (fluent Cantonese and conversational Mandarin).

Outside of medicine, she is a doting mother and treasures her family time. She loves to exercise and is an enthusiastic (and sometimes adventurous) home cook.
