Dr Phong Nguyen
General Consultant Cardiologist

Biography

Dr Phong Nguyen is a senior cardiologist with over 15 years experience working in both the public and private health systems. He graduated from the University of Queensland and completed his dual fellowship training in Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology in 2003. He is experienced in all aspects of cardiology including the management of coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, hypertension and familial hypercholesterolemia.

 

Dr Nguyen set up the Interventional Cardiology Services at Camden and Campbelltown hospitals in 2017 and was the Director of Cardiac Interventional Services until 2020. He was also the Director of Cardiovascular Research at Campbelltown Hospital from 2015-2017. He was one of the founder members of Macarthur Cardiology.

 

Dr Nguyen is passionate about medical education and research. He is the Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW and Western Sydney University. He has supervised and mentored numerous teaching and training programs for medical students, junior medical doctors, advanced trainees and cardiology fellows.  

He has spoken at various national and international conferences, and published research papers in many peer-reviewed journals. He is currently completing his PhD at the Western Sydney University.

Outside of work, Dr Nguyen is actively involved in volunteering for medical missions and charitable community projects.
