Dr. Rahul Kurup is a consultant and interventional cardiologist at Campbelltown and Liverpool Public Hospitals, as well as Sydney Southwest and Hurstville Private Hospitals. He completed his cardiology training at Westmead Hospital and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He subsequently undertook a high volume clinical fellowship in interventional cardiology at the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, Canada where he had an opportunity to learn from world leaders in cardiovascular care. He specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic coronary interventions, including coronary stenting, intracoronary physiology and intravascular imaging. He brings advanced expertise in minimally invasive cardiac procedures with a strong emphasis on evidence-based care and personalized treatment approaches. 

Research Focus

Dr. Kurup’s research centers on the role of inflammation in cardiovascular disease pathogenesis. He has completed a PhD at the University of Sydney with a focus on inflammatory mechanisms that contribute towards the development of plaque within the blood vessels of the heart. He is currently a clinical associate lecturer at the University of Sydney School of Medicine and remains actively involved in cardiovascular research, bridging laboratory findings with clinical applications to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Kurup has an avid interest in lifestyle-based strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease risk. He combines this preventative approach with expertise in interventional procedures, offering patients comprehensive care that addresses both immediate cardiac concerns and long-term cardiovascular health.
